Hey! How have you been feeling lately?

With all the roles we have to play— son, daughter, mother, father, wife, husband, student, employee, employer, etc., maybe at some point, we felt so bombarded with all these obligations and responsibilities that rest seems impossible.

Personally, I juggle my obligations and responsibilities as a daughter to my parents, a sister to my siblings, a student, a working student, a leader in one of the youth organizations in our community and a youth in our church.

There was a time that I tried to sleep after a long busy day only to wake up still feeling tired. Maybe, at some point, you can relate.

From that, i’ve realized that sleep doesn’t guarantee rest and a comfortable bed doesn’t guarantee rest either. There are even people who will spend a lot of money to go on a vacation to rest and still feel tired after going home.

I feel blessed that during those moments that I feel so restless, God comforted me with His words.

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus invites us to come to His presence. He promised us that all the obligations and responsibilities that we have will not be that heavy because He will be working alongside us as we go on through our journey. He guaranteed us that true rest for our souls if only we come near to Him.

At this moment, i’m encouraging you to find true rest by seeking and dwelling in God’s presence. Resting in His presence means depending on Him. Depending on Him means trusting God that He will take care all of our needs and that we acknowledge Him as the one who is ultimately in control of all the work that we do. For it is only God who can offer true rest that we’ve been longing for.

28 Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
